Green Housing Forum @ LHC – Watford, Hertfordshire
This year's Green Housing Forum will be focusing on the 'age of austerity' and discussing the effects of progressive cost cutting in social housing for nearly a decade. The event will be hosted by London Housing Consortium, at the LHC Innovation Centre located on the BRE Innovation Park near Watford, on Tuesday 13th March 2018 from 9am until 1.30pm.
As well as a line-up of industry leading keynote speakers including Bevan Jones, Managing Director of Sustainable Homes, delegates will have the opportunity to discuss whether cost-led decision-making in the maintenance and specification of products for social housing has had a negative impact on the safety and well-being of residents? The Grenfell tragedy has brought this question sharply into focus.
If the time has come to invest, is it also time to refocus on the wider sustainability agenda and the social, environmental and financial benefits of responsibly managed social housing?
Keynote Speakers
Timothy James Oakley, BA(Hons), Dip Arch, RIBA, MRSH - Head of Consultancy, LHC
Qualifying as an Architect in 1982, Tim designed, detailed and ran projects at a number of practices in Bristol. He also trained as a Planning Supervisor and qualified as a member of the Royal Society for Health.
Having worked at LHC for 21 years setting up construction frameworks, Tim is well versed in the statutory and regulatory requirements of public sector tendering. He developed LHC’s policies on Construction Health and Safety, KPI Collection and Sustainability, and has contributed to publications for the Concrete Society and Guidance to Building Regulations. He is a member of two Bsi committees and was actively involved in the review and rewriting of Bsi’s Construction Prequalification Questionnaires specification.
Bevan Jones - Managing Director, Sustainable Homes
Bevan has 13 years’ experience of working in sustainability in the public and private sectors. In this time he has contributed to a number of key studies and reports such as the UK’s first Climate Risk Assessment, The Economics of Climate Resilience for DEFRA, CBx’s Heat Networks Study and Future of London’s Managing London’s Exposure to Climate Change study.
He has worked for Catalyst and Dutch consultancy, Ecofys where he delivered work for the UK Government and contributed to EU projects.
Iain Bevan - Commercial Director for Heating & Renewables, Daikin UK
With over eight years’ experience of delivering renewable heat solutions to social housing, Iain Bevan is the Commercial Director for Heating and Renewables at Daikin UK.
